The Canadian Press reports that in Ontario, the province with the highest number of reported cases of the disease is Ontario’s Barrie region.
According to a new report by the Canadian Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, the number of cases in Barrie jumped to 2,098 last week from 2,033 the previous week.
The province reported 2,865 cases in the first nine days of March, which is a 23 per cent increase from the same period last year.
As of Monday, the provincial average temperature was just over 37 C, and the city of Toronto recorded its highest temperature of 37 C at 5:00 p.m.
